Kate Middleton wears Queen Elizabeth’s favourite tiara, the ‘Lotus Flower’, to state dinner [PHOTOS]

Now a member of the royal family, one of Kate Middleton’s duties involves attending dinners held by the state and other such functions. At a diplomatic dinner last night, the Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Madame Pang Liyuan were hosted at Buckingham Palace but everyone’s eyes were fixed on Princess Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge.

The 33-year-old mother of two looked exquisite in a red Jenny Packham dress, chosen to honour the Chinese as red is the colour of their national flag.

Apart from the dazzling array of diamonds that adorned her ears and wrists, Princess Catherine also wore the ‘Lotus Flower’, a tiara covered in natural pearls and diamonds which is one of Queen Elizabeth’s favourites. Since her marriage to Prince William in 2011, this is only the third time she has worn a tiara, the number one accessory that screams “I am royalty”.

If only we could all be princesses too!
