Mama June Shannon, 34, may not have anticipated such fallout from her on-again-off-again relationship with convicted child molester, Mark McDaniel, 53. Now that her oldest daughter Anna Marie Cardwell, 20, has come forward claiming Mark molested her as a child and Mama June’s let him near 9-year-old daughter Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, the question of whether or not she could lose her three underage kids over the scandal is now in play.
Mama June To Lose Custody Of Kids? In Question After Sex Offender Scandal
The sex offender scandal plaguing the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo family just keeps getting more complicated.
Now that Mama June has reportedly started seeing her convicted child molester ex-boyfriend Mark again, could custody of kids — Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, 14, Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, 17, and Honey Boo Boo — be in jeopardy?
“Generally speaking, when we receive a report that children are living around a sex offender … it would certainly rise to the level of concern of us looking into it,” Susan Boatwright of Georgia’s Division of Family and Child Services told People.
Susan could not confirm any investigation into the situation, but did reveal that Child Services would go to the home of underage children who were found to be living with a sex offender.
“From our point of view, when there are young children who are not able to protect themselves that are in daily contact or living with a sex offender, someone would go out and assess the situation and decide whether the children can stay there or not,” Susan continued. “If we thought a child was in harm’s way in any way, shape or form, we would develop a safety plan and make sure the children are not around an offender.”
