Pillars, who are also the third-placed team from Fiba Africa Zone-3 qualifiers, have earned the wild-card slot courtesy of its performance and consistency in previous competitions in the last seven years.
Pillars join already qualified DSTV PBL outfit Mark Mentors in a field of eleven other African basketball clubs at the continental showpiece.Mark Mentors grabbed automatic ticket for the championship by beating Pillars 78-73 in the semi-finals of the ACCM Zone-3 qualifiers. The first two teams in the qualifiers Mark Mentors and AS Sonabhy of Burkina Faso claimed outright ticket to represent Zone 3 at the ACCM.
Other teams to have qualified for the 2014 ACCM includes: Zone-3 winners Abidjan Basketball Club of Cote d’Ivoire, Club Africain (Tun), ES. Rads (Tun), U.S. Monastir (Tun), Sporting Club d’Alexandrie (Egy), ASB Mazembe (Cod), Malabo Kings (Geq), CRD Libolo (Ang), C.D. Primeiro de Agosto (Ang) and B.C.M. (Mayotte/Fra).
