Eto Ends International Football Career

 The 33-year-old, who is Cameroon record goal scorer with 55 goals in 116 appearances, last featured for the West African nation in a 1-0 defeat by Mexico at this year’s World Cup.

Eto’O announced on his Twitter fee: “I inform you that I am ending my international career… Thank you to all Africa, and to all my fans for your unconditional support.”
The former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker had not been named in Cameroon’s 25-man squad for next month’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier.

The confirmation comes a day after signing a two-year deal with English Premier League outfit Everton as a free agent, having been released by his previous club Chelsea at the end of last season.

The Afcon all-time leading scorer with 18 goals won two titles in2000 (Ghana and Nigeria) and 2002 (Mali).

As well as making his fourth appearance at the World Cup in Brazil, Eto’O was also part of his country’s squad which won an Olympic Gold in Sydney in 2000.

He has several Uefa Champions League winner’s medal – two with Barcelona and one with Inter Milan and was named Caf Player of the Year on a record four different occasions. He was also the top scorer in Spain’s La Liga in 2006.
