39-year-old Chamberlin Ojoko has been arrested for the death of his 25-year-old girlfriend Chinonye Ella who he reportedly killed during her visit to their rendezvous and buried in a shallow grave behind an uncompleted building in Ezinihitte Mbaise, Imo State, in an attempt to cover his crime.
The duo reportedly met during a bus trip in December 2014, kicked off a relationship and Ella, who was resident in Umuahia, began visiting him in Imo State. Soon, she became pregnant and Chamberlin (whose wife is also pregnant) attempted to abort the pregnancy during her next visit.The Sun reports that he claimed to have given her herbal concoctions which caused her complications that resulted in her death, and then he buried her. But when the body was exhumed and an autopsy done, it was discovered that the late Ella was strangled with her own cloth, her body covered with bruises.
Chamberlin’s plans were foiled by a little girl who saw him burying Ella. She alerted the owner of the building the following day, before the police was called to the scene. Chamberlin had returned to his family in Port Harcourt.
Chamberlim is currently in police custody, but the family of the girl are yet to be contacted because he discarded her mobile phone and there are no other known contacts of the family.
